2024 NFL Magazine Results
Review of the 2024 NFL season long recommendations
The 2024 Pro Football Preview Magazine is now available as a free download. You can access that on the 2024 magazine page, or “purchase” a free copy in the store. This allows you to read what I said about each team, and my expectations for them in the 2024 season. It also includes all of my season long future bets that I place in June prior to the publication of the magazine. However, if you only care about what bets I placed, and how I succeeded with those wagers, I’ve outlined all of the bets below.
Overall Performance
Record: 18-31 Total Profit ($100 per bet): $1,675 Return on Investment: 34.2%
The nice thing about future bets and the longer odds is you don’t need to win a lot of bets in order to make a profit. I outlined 49 future bets in the 2024 magazine, and despite only winning 36.7% of the wagers, I still made a 34% profit, which is fantastic for a 7-month investment. It also demonstrates the strategy used to identify Conference Champions and Super Bowl winners is strong.
Super Bowl Bets
Record: 1-4 Total Profit ($100 per bet): $1,400 Return on Investment: 280%
| Team | Odds |
| Baltimore Ravens | +1,000 |
| Detroit Lions | +1,400 |
| Philadelphia Eagles | +1,800 |
| New York Jets | +2,500 |
| Los Angeles Rams | +4,000 |
Identifying five teams you believe can win the Super Bowl and betting the same amount on them to win is a great way to shorten the odds. Of the 5 teams I identified as teams with a chance to win it all, 4 of them made the playoffs. I didn’t bet Kansas City for the Super Bowl or AFC Conference, but Philadelphia came through for me, and my season ended on the best note, cashing a ticket with +1,800 odds.
Conference Champion Bets
Record: 1-7 Total Profit ($100 per bet): $100 Return on Investment: 13%
| Conference | Team | Odds |
| AFC | Baltimore Ravens | +550 |
| AFC | Buffalo Bills | +750 |
| AFC | Houston Texans | +850 |
| AFC | New York Jets | +1,200 |
| NFC | Detroit Lions | +650 |
| NFC | Philadelphia Eagles | +800 |
| NFC | Atlanta Falcons | +1,400 |
| NFC | Los Angeles Rams | +2,000 |
I was a big supporter of Buffalo in the AFC Championship since I didn’t have a ticket on Kansas City in the Super Bowl or AFC Championship. Unfortunately, I came up short in the AFC and didn’t cash a ticket there. The NFC had a similar story, but a much better outcome for me with Philadelphia beating Washington. The Eagles cashing the conference championship ticket at +800 allowed me to make a small profit of 13%.
Division Winners
Record: 5-3 Total Profit ($100 per bet): $695 Return on Investment: 87%
| Conference | Division | Team | Odds |
| AFC | East | Buffalo Bills | +180 |
| AFC | East | New York Jets | +240 |
| AFC | North | Baltimore Ravens | +140 |
| NFC | East | Philadelphia Eagles | +125 |
| NFC | North | Detroit Lions | +150 |
| NFC | North | Green Bay Packers | +210 |
| NFC | South | Atlanta Falcons | -105 |
| NFC | West | Los Angeles Rams | +400 |
Another area of strong performance was in the division winner wagers. The record was 5-3, but 2 losses were expected as I took 2 teams in the AFC East and the NFC North. The Vikings nearly cost me the NFC North, but Detroit held on to help cash another ticket. The Falcons were the lone unexpected loss. The Rams are the reason of the high profit, being able to identify them as the NFC West winner at +400 was a definite highlight of the season for me.
Team Win Totals
Record: 9-8 Total Profit ($100 per bet): $143 Return on Investment: 8%
| Bet Type | Team(s) | Bet | Odds |
| Team Win Total | New England Patriots | UNDER 5 | -110 |
| Team Win Total | New England Patriots | UNDER 4.5 | +135 |
| Team Win Total | Baltimore Ravens | OVER 11 | +110 |
| Team Win Total | Baltimore Ravens | OVER 11.5 | +130 |
| Team Win Total | Indianapolis Colts | UNDER 8.5 | -105 |
| Team Win Total | Denver Broncos | UNDER 5.5 | +120 |
| Team Win Total | Philadelphia Eagles | OVER 10.5 | +105 |
| Team Win Total | Washington Commanders | UNDER 6.5 | +110 |
| Team Win Total | Atlanta Falcons | OVER 9.5 | -130 |
| Team Win Total | Carolina Panthers | OVER 5.5 | -110 |
| Team Win Total | New Orleans Saints | UNDER 7.5 | +106 |
| Team Win Total | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | UNDER 8.5 | -150 |
| Team Win Total | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | UNDER 7.5 | +122 |
| Team Win Total | Arizona Cardinals | UNDER 7 | +100 |
| Team Win Total | Arizona Cardinals | UNDER 6.5 | +144 |
| Team Win Total | San Francisco 49ers | UNDER 11.5 | -125 |
| Team Win Total | San Francisco 49ers | UNDER 11 | -110 |
Similar to the division winners, the NFC South really cost me in the team win total bets. The UNDER 7.5 on the New Orleans Saints is the only NFC South win total bet I cashed. I put too many eggs in the Kirk Cousins basket and that cost me some cash in 2024. Other big misses were the UNDERs on Denver and Washington, both of those teams surprised me as much as the NFC South. The UNDER bets on San Francisco went hand in hand with the LA Rams NFC West Division bet, however the misses on Arizona means I was close on that division, but not complete, so a bit more work to do. Those were the last 2 divisions I wrote about, so perhaps I need to start with those divisions this year.
Other Bets
Record: 2-9 Total Loss ($100 per bet): -$663 Return on Investment: -60%
| Bet Type | Team(s) | Bet | Odds |
| Start Season | New England Patriots | Start 1-4 | +150 |
| Start Season | New England Patriots | Start 0-5 | +350 |
| Division Order | AFC South | Hou / Jax / Ten / Ind | +1,500 |
| Division Order | AFC South | Hou / Jax | +350 |
| Division Order | AFC South | Jax / Hou | +500 |
| Season Pass Yards | Kirk Cousins | OVER 4,000.5 | +110 |
| Season Rush Yards | Bijan Robinson | OVER 900.5 | -115 |
| Rush Champ | Bijan Robinson | +1,800 | |
| Start Season | New Orleans Saints | Start 1-4 | +225 |
| Start Season | Arizona Cardinals | Start 1-4 | +250 |
| Start Season | Arizona Cardinals | Start 0-5 | +750 |
These did not go well for me. I probably won’t try to predict Division orders anymore, that was more difficult than expected. Despite limited success with the Start Season bets, I did cash one of the New England bets, and had a chance for one of the Arizona bets as they won week 5 against San Francisco. I will take a few more shots at those next season.
