NFL Picks for Bets and Contests
Last weekend was a great weekend for football, and the wild card picks went 3-0. It’s not surprising that Dallas choked again, I had been telling everyone all season that they’ll fade in the playoffs and they can’t beat the good teams. People were skeptical, but it happened, and now I’m surprised that McCarthy is still employed as the head coach. I thought for sure he’d been fired for the loss, just like most other people, but Jerry Jones is doing the same thing to McCarthy that he did to Jason Garrett. Twice Garrett had to coach the last year of his contract, the first time he was successful and got 5 more years, but the 2nd time he wasn’t as fortunate. We shouldn’t be surprised Jerry is making McCarthy do the same thing he did with Garrett, earn next years paycheck. We’ll see how it goes, but as of right now I don’t expect anything better than 11 wins and another early playoff exit.
The collapse of Philadelphia also deserves a quick mention. I had future bets on the Eagles to go OVER 11.5 wins and to win the NFC East. They started the season 10-1, and I thought I was going to cash both of those tickets. Then they fell apart going 1-5 down the stretch before capping it off with a loss to Tampa Bay last weekend. Those were tough pills to swallow. I know they Super Bowl loser doesn’t fair well the next year, but the ease of schedule Philly had this year should have been 13 wins easy. The losses in weeks 17 & 18 are worse than the playoff loss. It’s almost like they lost to Arizona twice since the team was so hung over from the AZ loss they never showed up against NY Giants in week 18. We’ll see what changes are made this year to the defense, I expect a huge overhaul of the secondary.
