NFL Picks for Bets and Contests

It looked like week 16 was going to be a great week for me with the Jets, Vikings and Falcons all looking good early. Only Carolina was struggling in the early games, but just like the rest of their seasons, both MIN and NYJ soon took a turn for the worse. The Jets were winning 27-7 at halftime, but a WAS QB change sparked a rally and the Commanders scored 21 straight points to take a 28-27 lead. I also needed a WAS loss for a season win total alt UNDER of 5.5 wins. Fortunately for that future ticket the Jets came back and kicked a game winning field goal, sadly, they couldn’t cover.

The Vikings were losing 14-17 at halftime and 21-23 at the end of the 3rd quarter. In the 4th, Detroit scored a TD to take a 30-21 lead. Minnesota drove right back down the field before stalling and settling for a field goal. The Vikings defense did their part and forced a punt on the next DET possession, but MIN couldn’t punch it in to win the game. They had a chance, but QB Mullens didn’t get enough oomph on the ball and DET picked off the pass in the end zone.

Luckily for me CAR came back in the 2nd half to make a tight contest and nearly forced overtime. Green Bay was able to get the game winning field goal with 19 seconds left, but CAR had done their part and got inside the number for a cover and a 2-2. But the afternoon game didn’t play out as expected. DAL was trailing 13-19 in the 4th quarter when they got the ball back with 11:06 to play. The Cowboys drove all the way down for a game leading touchdown, but left 3:27 to play on the clock. That was enough time for Miami to get into field goal range for a final second kick to win the game. MIA made the kick and won the game by 2, which was the number as of time of posting, and a 2-2-1 record for the day. Sadly the line was only 1 or 1.5 in the contests, so I didn’t get that much needed half point for the push, instead I took the loss in contest play for 2-3 week.
