2023 NFL Week 10 Picks
NFL Picks for Bets and Contests
Last week was a hard pill to swallow, and it’s still gnawing at me a week later. I needed a 5-0 to have a shot at $25K and a 3-week SuperContest mini-contest victory. I got the 5, but it was on the wrong fucking side, and I went 0-5, eliminating myself from not just the 3-week mini-contest, but the 6-week contest too.
After struggling to stop the Bears in the 1st half, New Orleans had 4 opportunities at the end of the game to cover the spread. NO scored a TD to go up 7, then intercepted CHI, taking possession of the football in CHI territory. For some reason, NO decided to attempt the “tush push” on 4th and 1, didn’t get it and gave the ball back to CHI. The Bears gave it right back 6 plays later with another INT, but NO only gained 1 yard and punted the ball back to CHI at their own 2. I was thinking safety, but CHI gained some space and punted the ball back to NO who returned the punt into CHI territory once again. This possession ended with a FG attempt, but the kicker hit the post and the try was missed. The fucking post!!! But wait, CHI fumbles 2 plays later and NO gets the ball at CHI 18 with 2:05 left. Break 1 play and score the TD, but no, 3 Taysom Hill runs later and the game was over. Devastating loss.
Houston had the misfortune of losing their kicker to injury during the game. The emergency kicker, a running back, did make 1 extra point. However, because of missing the kicker, HOU went for 2-point conversion after TD’s 4 times, and only converted 1 of them. I understand that had they just kicked extra points all 4 times the game would’ve played out differently, but I can’t help but think about those 3 failed 2-point conversions. If they converted 1, it would’ve been a win. Had they kicked an extra point 1 more time instead of 4 2-point conversions, I would’ve won. Losing games because of field goals hitting the post sucks hard, losing a bet because the fucking kicker got hurt in the game sucks worse.
Then there is the Dallas game. Honestly, by halftime of that game I was so sick to my stomach about the early games and what was happening in Carolina that I couldn’t watch any more football. I went and played with my kids, and I didn’t look at the end of DAL/PHI game, but I know that it was another devastating way to lose a bet.
Could’ve, would’ve, should’ve been a 3-2 Sunday, but ended with a sickening 0-5. This is a hard game to handicap. It’s a fresh week, and the schedule is loaded with opportunities. Here are 7 contest picks for week 10:
- New England +2
- Cleveland +6
- Green Bay +3
- New Orleans -2.5
- Tampa Bay -2.5
- Arizona +2
- Denver +7.5
I’m using CLE, GB and DEN on both cards, and adding NE & AZ to 1 card and NO & TB to the other card I have in SuperContest, DraftKings and Circa Millions contests.
Good luck this week!
